Composition 1 (TOEFL >525 points) 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course is designed to introduce students to some of the procedures and skills needed to produce academic papers. Students will encounter various texts, practice using them in a variety of ways to produce their own, critically reflected papers.
Introduction to Communication Studies 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course introduces students to the field of communication and media studies. It provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to understand and analyze interpersonal, intercultural, mass and computer-mediated communications.
Introduction to Psychology 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course provides to the students an overview of the field of psychology. It will familiarize them with the basic terms and theories, as well as with some classic and recent research. Also, it will focus on each student as an individual.
Introduction to Statistics 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The students will learn the basic statistical methods and will become familiar with applying them when resolving various practical problems.
Computer Applications 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course introduces to students all aspects of the computer system. They will learn the basic computer operations, and will acquire skills for working on the basic computer software.
Composition 2 (Academic Writing and Critical Thinking) 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course is designed to further students’ knowledge of academic writing. Students will encounter several academic text genres and practice using them in a variety of ways to produce their own critically reflected papers.
History of Communication 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course considers how the communication process has been shaped by the prevailing political, cultural, legal and economic factors of particular historical periods. It introduces the relationship between specific forms of communication media and practices and historical and social changes.
History of Civilization 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
Review of world history, through analysis of the development and growth of the civilization from European and world perspective, from prehistoric times, through the Renaissance to the present.
Introduction to Sociology 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The course offers analysis of the social structures and processes in different groups, which include small informal subgroups of the society. It emphasizes the application of sociological principles and concepts in selected environments.
Fine Arts 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
An introduction to the fine arts that focuses on the basic elements of artistic production in various fine arts disciplines (painting, sculpture, architecture, video). Students will learn how these elements are combined into a work of art and will see the commonalities which exist across the arts disciplines.
Interpersonal Communication 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
Interpersonal Communication is designed to increase your understanding and implementation of effective interpersonal communication behaviours and skills.
Communication Theory 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course offers an overview of historical and contemporary theories of communication.
Media and Politics 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The course explores the symbiosis and interaction of politics and media. It is designed to introduce students to the influence the media has over the shaping of political agendas and the conduct of various political actors.
Introduction to New Media 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course is an introduction to the historical contexts, concepts, technical concerns and production processes fundamental to New Media. It surveys current and historical scholarship and criticism of New Media and its antecedents.
Introduction to Public Relations 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The course is designed to introduce the students to the fundamentals of Public Relations theories, functions, tools and practices.
Journalism and Society 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The main goal of the course is to observe the impact of journalism on society, its role in society as well as the interdependence between the journalistic profession and society.
Television and Popular Culture 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course offers an investigation of the role of television within popular culture, examining television programs as texts and ways in which viewers incorporate them into their cultural practices.
Writing for the Media 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The course will train students in writing for various mass media. Students will become prepared for writing essential forms of journalistic texts, such as basic news, features and interviews for print, broadcast and online media.
Propaganda and Persuasion 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course is designed to introduce the students with the concept of influence. It will enable them, with an in-depth understanding of persuasive principles, to identify and understand the many strategies of propaganda and persuasion we encounter on a daily basis.
Nonverbal Communication 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
Students will be introduced to the examination of codes of nonverbal communication within personal, interpersonal, and professional contexts.
Principles of Advertising 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course provides a basic foundation in advertising fundamentals as well as insights into contemporary advertising applications.
Online Journalism 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The course is designed with the main intention to train students in using the Internet for research and production of journalistic information. The course will discuss research and reporting on the Internet, nonlinear texts as well as help students practice using web-design applications and various software instruments in online journalism.
Media Ethics 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The course focuses on the ethical issues which are raised every day in the work of media practitioners.
Media Production 1 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course addresses both studio and field issues at all stages of production. It is a comprehensive introductory course that provides students with a practical framework for all aspects of media production
Visual Communication and Culture 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
Intensive study and analysis through illustrated lectures of visual forms of information and communication. Sudents will study the basics of theory and iconographic languages to understand visual information resources in society and culture.
Multimedia Systems 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the tools and problem-solving methodologies related to multimedia programming. Our primary focus will be on the tools and skills used by multimedia programmers in today's industry.
International Communication and Globalization 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
International Communication and Globalization examines the profound changes that have taken place, and are continuing to take place at an astonishing speed, in international media and communications.
Organizational Communication 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course will examine the process of organizational communication as a means through which we work, build relationships, and make the world just a little bit better place to live in through effective communication.
Research Methods 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
Basic quantitative and qualitative research methods in communication studies will be introduced. The emphasis will be on developing skills needed to conduct research, and to understand and critically evaluate research findings.
Cultural Industries 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course examines the production and circulation of goods which have primarily an informational, expressive or aesthetic purpose, but also incorporates cultural institutions and forms involving public subsidy, such as theatre, opera, ballet, galleries, museums and crafts.
Intercultural Communication 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course provides a basis for developing the necessary knowledge, attitudes and interpretative skills required for effective inter-cultural communication in multicultural environments and beyond.
Introduction to Web Design 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The aim of this course is to introduce communication students to the basics of designing and developing a web site. Some site management techniques are covered, accessibility issues and working with domains and clients is discussed.
Public Speaking 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The Public Speaking course is designed to introduce the basic speaking skills to students. The course will focus on various types of speeches, their organization, delivery and supporting materials, as well as on audience analysis.
Public Relations Campaigns 6 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The main goal of the course is to train students in the process of PR campaign design. Lectures will focus on discussing the design process step-by-step, with its creative and strategic aspects. Students will also work on a number of case scenarios, both in a group and individually.
Research Methods in Communication and Media 8 ECTS / 4 ACTS

Media, Culture and Society 8 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This course allows students to explore key areas of media and cultural studies, politics and sociology. The three core elements provide a contemporary understanding of how recent approaches to the mass media, culture and politics affect the contours of society, research and debate.
Political Communication and Public Affairs 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
The course closely examines the role of communication in the political process. Students will also gain understanding of the work of professional communicators and how they attempt to control the news – and on the other hand, what is the effect of the news on what we think about public affairs.
Media Planning 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
The course discusses and explains integrated marketing communications and how it affects media planning; the business of buying and selling time and space for the advertising message; and consumer media, both national advertising planning and local planning.
Semiotics 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
Through lecture/demonstrations, readings, and in-class discussions, this introductory course provides a brief overview of the history of semiotics and semiology, and an introduction to the major theories underlying these fields as well as the philosophical foundations upon which they are based.
Media and Public Opinion 8 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This course examines the nature of public opinion, and the role of the media in public opinion formation and change.
Marketing and the Media 8 ECTS / 4 ACTS
The primary goal of the course is to explore the contexts of product placement in the mass media. Topics include related marketing strategies and impact on the audience, discussed through various methodological standpoints and approaches.
Public Relations in Conflict and Crisis 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This advanced course in public relations equips students with the skills necessary to manage crises situations that organizations may be in a situation to deal with. At the end of the course, students will be able to design a crisis communication plan, which includes making decisions about the organization’s responsibility and stakeholder relationships.
Digital Media and Cyberculture 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This course explores cyberspace, the most powerful and frequently inhabited space within contemporary culture. Readings, discussions, research, writing, and a cyber-research project will help students gain a greater understanding of digital media and cyberspace and its culture.
Media Management 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
The course will offer an in-depth look into the business aspect of the media. It is designed to prepare students for management positions in the media, as well as introduce the complexity of the media manager’s responsibilities to the future journalist.
Organizational Communication \ 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This course is an advanced course that examines the processes of organizational communication.
Internship 8 ECTS / 4 ACTS
Placement of the students at a different media organizations and companies according to the professional orientation of the relevant MA.
Media and Communication Law 8 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This course introduces the students to the field of legal regulations of the media and communications in the Republic of Macedonia and beyond, in Europe and the world.
Media and Literature 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This course will deal with the various ways in which literature intersects with other media. It will also look at the ways in which literature portrays the media.
Advanced Media Production 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This is an intensive, advanced and practical course with an emphasis on the production within the electronic media. It offers students opportunities to write and produce in a variety of media forms.
Digital Art 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This is a course in digital art and culture with a focus on how to use the web and new media as an art tool, research resource, distribution channel, and exhibition/interactive site.
Gender and Media 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
This course investigates the history of gender representation in a range of popular media in film, television, music, pornography, the internet, video games, and so on.
Public Relations Strategy and Practice 8 ECTS / 4 ACTS
The primary goal of the course is to offer students an understanding of strategic planning of the implementation of PR tools.
Effective Speaking 7 ECTS / 4 ACTS
The goal of this course is to help students gain confidence and expertise speaking before others. The emphasis will be on the uniqueness of each individual student as a speaker, as well as the shared challenges of all who seek to improve their speaking abilities.
Writing for Public Relations 7 ECTS / 3 ACTS
The course employs a thorough approach to the writing skills essential for future PR practitioners. Students are trained in how and when to use the fundamental PR forms and will also be acquainted with the most effective channels for dissemination of PR materials.
e-Marketing 7 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course covering is Internet/eMarketing and provides students with the opportunity to try and understand the key concepts involved in Internet marketing. This course enables the student to take the knowledge of the tools, techniques and opportunities of Internet marketing and merge them into the marketing planning process.

This course will deal with the techniques of oral communication in business and professional settings.

The course offers insight into building a brand identity, creating brand personality and managing a brand.

This class will outline the history and theory of new media from aesthetic, cultural, and political perspectives.
Human Computer Interaction 7 ECTS / 3 ACTS
Human computer interaction stresses the importance of good interfaces and the relationship of interface design to effective human interaction with computers.
Open Source Culture 7 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course considers recent efforts to use open source software as a model for cultural production.
Introduction to Web Design 2:0 7 ECTS / 3 ACTS
This course will cover the basics of Web 2.0 technologies and how they can be used to provide value to users in a Web 2.0 world. The course emphasizes the impacts of Web 2.0 on business models for the Internet
